chakras

seven wheels of energy · from base of spine to crown of head.
The chakra system appears in multiple Indian spiritual traditions — yoga, tantra, and some Buddhist lineages. It maps human energetic anatomy as seven wheels (chakras) stacked along the spine. Each chakra governs a layer of being (body → emotion → will → heart → voice → vision → transcendence). The system is not found in the oldest Vedas; it was elaborated in post-Upanishadic tantric texts (c. 500-1500 CE). Below: the seven, with their colors, mantras, and lessons.
How to use this: the chakra system is a map, not a literal anatomy. Whether you treat it as metaphysical (energy centers that actually exist) or psychological (a vocabulary for emotional-physical integration) — it's an ancient, systematic way of asking: where am I stuck?

Common practice: meditate on each chakra's color, bija mantra (seed sound), and physical location. Start at muladhara, work up to sahasrara.
